谁了解[总统童军奖]的？——更新帖子在1楼:皇天不负有心人

总统童军奖还是童军总统奖的,这个奖项:

1,到底要多么杰出表现才能得到这个奖项？
2,是否只给新加坡公民,PR学生能够得到吗？
3,如果拿到了这个奖项,有哪些好处或者说有什么用处？

小老鼠JC1了,学习非常的紧张和忙碌,可是却依然不停地参加CCA的活动.
星期六上午是他的英文补习课时间,可是却因为一早就要去学校参加CCA童军活动而需要打电话给补习中心请假、换课.经常这样子,我们都不好意思拿起电话通知补习中心了.
节假日,正是好好休息和在家用功的宝贵时间,他却一大早就出门了,打电话问他,他说是童军工作日.所谓工作日,就是一座组屋一座大牌地从楼顶走到楼底挨家挨户地募捐、讨钱,用他们的劳动、服务换取10元、20元的报酬.或者帮人家洗车,或者帮人家拖地、搬运东西.大年初二,家家户户都走亲戚拜年,他早上7点钟就出门到学校去集合参加采青活动.所谓采青,就是舞狮子.累到半夜才回家.

今天早上一大早,小老鼠就全副武装地在收拾包包要出门.
我叫住他说-今天复活节你要去哪里？
他回答-要去学校.
我说-你们学校不放假吗？
他回答-是童军有事情要做.
我郑重告诉他-他是JC1了,已经浪费不起时间在CCA了,为什么CCA还不停止或者减少？学习才是最重要的.CCA能够不去就不要去了,不是说必须事必躬亲次次都要表现最好的.
他回答-别人可以不去,但是我必须得去.
我问-为什么？
他答-因为我要拿这个总统奖.

这一去,就是一整天.
我不知道我是应该支持还是反对他.

真伤脑筋！

这个好像是President's Scout Award 不是奖学金。

The President's Scout Award is the highest rank in the Singapore Scout Association. It is awarded after completing a determined list of accomplishments.

In 2000, Singapore Scout Association finally shedded the last influence of UK from its Venture Scout training scheme and badges by introducing its own three-stage progress and new badges. To gain the President's Scout Award, a Venture Scout must first gain the Venture Scout Standard in stage one, satisfying the requirements in eight designated areas; after which he would complete stage two requirements of the eight areas to be awarded with the Venture Scout Cord progress badge and eight Venture proficiency badges. Holders of the Venture Scout Cord would wear a special leather thong on his/her left epaulette, akin to the Bushman's Thong.
The Venture Scout would then have to complete three further assessments conducted nationally in order to be awarded the President's Scout Award.
One of them is to successfully complete an evaluation training camp known as the "A.S.P.I.RE.", and the other is to complete an assigned PSA project to the satisfaction of the National Venture Scout Council.

After successfully completing the two assessments above, the President Scout Candidate must then appear before an interview panel, after which, if successful, he will be awarded the PSA at an annual ceremony held at the President of Singapore's residence, the Istana.



1,到底要多么杰出表现才能得到这个奖学金？
好像是不是奖学金，必须完成几项assessments, projects 还有通过面试。

2,是否只给新加坡公民,PR学生能够得到吗？
上面没说明，应该是都可以。

3,如果拿了Scout总统奖学金,会有什么合同限制吗？
得到的是总统亲自发的勋章，还有威信，光荣，满足感。

因为每年只有一个President's Scout Award ，报考大学的时候，我觉得写上这个和得到它的过程和经验，很够力！

还有，老的时候，回味一下这个曾经拥有，感觉没有白活了。

JC1 很多学生都是忙着课外活动，只要有分寸，JC2 才加紧准备A Levels 不会太迟。

我建议米版最好跟老师沟通一下,看看孩子拿到这个奖的可能性有多大。,我觉得孩子太累也不是办法,毕竟考大学是真金白银看分数,据说成绩达到一定程度,即使热门专业也许连面试都不用。这个课外活动,据说报读美国大学比较有用。但是,本地和英国大学,据说成绩是相当重要滴。道听途说之言,供参考。

是的,是我理解错误,正确的是【总统童军奖】或者是【童军总统奖】,是一个奖项,不是奖学金.

我教训了儿子了------考分才是第一重要的.CCA也好什么奖也好,那是次要的.我教训他主次不分.
他跟我顶嘴-----说他不想成为一个书呆子,不要为了考大学而读书.
我教训他------社会就是这么的现实,不管你接受与不接受,它就是那么残酷地存在在这里.
我还教训他------拿到什么奖,那是可遇而不可求的缘分.而考分考大学,则是有付出就会有收获.你的错误在于:你把可遇不可求的东西当成了必然的东西.
他跟我顶嘴------他说考大学也是可遇不可求的看缘分,并不是付出了就一定能考上自己理想中的大学和专业.

所以说,儿大不由娘呀.

就是咯,人家要的就是考美国的大学.都没有把本地的大学和英国的大学放在计划里.
作为我,他只要考上国大南大都好了,跑美国去干嘛,天高地远的,我怎么监控呀,而且也花钱.在本地读大学至少不需要缴付房租.

我觉得家长应该鼓励孩子追求他们的梦想。

如果您担心孩子在课业上会分心，可以和孩子有个约定，在学业上不受影响下追求他的理想。

在A水准会考拿4科主修特优不难，但要进入名牌美国大学看的是personal essay，CCA/leadership， 还有面试。我看过您贴过孩子在报章上穿童子军服和总统面对面的英姿和报道，觉得他是很有领导力和魄力的人才。不管他最终有没有获得总统童军奖，他的经历也可能受到大学和企业的青睐，难不准他能拿企业奖学金，上他心仪的美国大学。

那些参加国际数理化奥赛的，多数在JC2 时都为了准备奥赛而缺课约两个月（六至七月），有些甚至从三、四月就开始准备了。这些孩子都很有分寸，我所知道的，会考都考到7科特优或以上。

President’s Scout Award (PSA) Project

Conceptual Background:
The President’s Scout Award Project is one out of three final requirements for Venture
Scouts in their journey towards attaining the President’s Scout Award.
This testing platform focuses on providing scout related projects for PSA candidates to be
involved in and to complete certain roles and responsibilities while mentored and assessed
by a supervising adult leader.
The President’s Scout Award (PSA) Project has taken a leap forward and is being updated
to keep in tandem with growing changes in the local and world community, social and youth
scenes.
PSA Youth Projects now require Venture Scouts to be registered as a PSA Candidate and
subsequently volunteer oneself to a project of national significance.
Project typically lasts for at least 3 months and a supervising Adult Leader must be
assigned. This is done to provide an element of mentorship where key soft skills are
nurtured and grown as the PSA candidate is involved in the various aspects of the job
function.
PSA project participants will be provided with a specific set of roles and responsibilities in the
project, depending on the varying size and scope the project entails.

Assignment
The project will be assigned by the National Venture Scout Council and subsequently be
approved by the National Venture Scout Programme Commissioner.
These projects can either be:-
• A national level event/project organised or supported by the National Programme
Council.
• External government agencies or statutory board youth projects (e.g. National Youth
Council; National Youth Achievement Awards; People’s Association Youth Movement;
Grassroots Youth Executive Committees; National Volunteer Philanthropy Centre;
among others).
• Candidates are allowed and encouraged to propose meaningful projects to the
National Venture Scout Council for approval.

Minimum Requirements
The following requirements would need to be incorporated before approval is granted by the
National Venture Scout Programme Commissioner, and subsequently endorsed by the
Assistant Chief Commissioner (Programme):-
I. The project must last at least 3 months from planning to implementation and reflection
learning.
II. One qualified adult leader must be appointed and function as a mentor and supervisor
to the Venture Scout throughout the project period. The adult leader must be
approved by the National Venture Scout Council.
III. The project must provide at least two-thirds, if not all of the following roles and
responsibilities; soft skill sets for the Venture Scout to fulfil to the satisfaction of the
supervising leader:
• Administration
• Communication
• Logistics & Procurement Management
• Peer Management & Mentorship
• Presentation Skills (Verbal, Powerpoint presentation and so forth)
• Project Management
• Programme development & planning
• Programme management scheduling
• Research & Analysis
• Time Management
IV. The project should primarily focus on benefiting the youths of Singapore and/ or the
local community.
V. Adequate resources must be committed and made accessible by the recommending
authority for the project.
VI. A pre and post learning phase must be conducted for the Venture Scout (by the
supervising adult leader) to assess and compare personal developmental growth with
reference to the soft skill sets embedded in the roles and responsibilities assigned.
VII. A pre-project proposal indicating the overall concept and action plan for
implementation must be submitted for approval before commencement of the project.
VIII. A post-project report must be submitted to the Singapore Scout Association (SSA)
Headquarters for archiving. The report will be made accessible to units keen on
learning more about the topic or project.

•The President’s Scout Award
The Highest Award a Venture Scout in this section can attain in this section is the President’s Scout Award.
Received from the President of the Republic of Singapore and in the capacity of the Chief Scout, a Venture Scout must first complete the Venture Scout Cord in order to be registered as a President’s Scout Award (PSA Candidate).

A PSA Candidate is required to successfully complete 2 trials:
an Assessment Test known as ASPIRE and
the successful completion of a PSA Project.

After the completion of these 2 trials, a PSA Candidate will go through a Selection and Interview Panel comprising of key Association Management Council Members and National Commissioners.

从以上的资料可以看到，除了要完成上面的项目还要被入选和面试！

是否只给新加坡公民,PR学生能够得到吗？
PR学生肯定可以参加，但公民机会较高！近年来PR学生比例明显减少！此奖项每年有10人左右可以拿到！

如果拿到了这个奖项,有哪些好处或者说有什么用处？
好处非常多，是很多政府和私人奖学金（比如公共服务奖学金PSC）的敲门砖！很多英美牛校的敲门砖！

从去年和前年拿到这个奖的孩子那里了解的情况：听说资深委员的推荐很重要。入选后，面试更会有专人指导！

PS：谈谈CCA和学术成绩的关系：
一般而言，JC1多为CCA的高峰期，学校也多会在JC2让很多孩子回归学术。而很多我看到的CCA在顶端而非常强的孩子，多数脑子都不坏，都能在有限的JC2迎头敢上，学术成绩都至少能拿5~6A。
